VF-XS Super Valkyrie II
Debut: never animated, appears within Animage 11 magazine Vol. 161 (published 1991)
Description: The VF-XS Super Valkyrie II is a concept variable fighter for the Macross II animated series. The VF-XS Super Valkyrie II is NOT an official design found anywhere in the Macross II continuity. Hence, the VF-XS has no official statistics and there is no written trivia for the valkyrie. However, this concept design is popular among Macross II fans as the origin of the official VF-2SS Valkyrie II.
The Macross II artwork within Animage 11 Vol. 161 includes a colored picture of the VF-XS equipped with newly designed Super Packs. The Super Packs have no notable details that would distinguish their function from that of earlier FAST/Super Packs. As such, the FAST/Super Packs were likely designed as optional hardware providing the valkyrie with far greater thrust when deployed in space, possibly additional sensor equipment and a significant loadout of micro-missiles. The FAST/Super Packs are designed with a much different style than earlier comparable packs, a style that is less curved and features sharper angles, matching that of the VF-XS Valkyrie II itself.
The VF-XS Super Valkyrie II was designed by Kazumi Fujita.
