The Tractor Trailer Truck (aka semi-trailer truck, semi or articulated lorry) is a truly enormous twenty-eight-wheel cargo transport vehicle for colonization fleets. The name is derived from the combination of a tractor unit (twelve-wheel vehicle at the front) and a semi-trailer to carry freight (sixteen-wheel vehicle towed behind). This class of tractor trailer is so large, the bottom bumper is almost the same height as a person and the rear of the vehicle features vast cargo carrying capacity. The tractor trailer truck is designed to operate for limited, short-range travel in space, typically around a City Class ship. The tractor trailer truck has several banks of thrusters built into the front, sides and underside of the forward cabin and rear cargo sections to allow maneuvering in a vacuum. An enclosed life support system protects the occupants. These systems make the tractor trailer "Milky Road-worthy" (airtight) so it can leave City 7 to navigate the large web of guidance beams permitting safe space travel between the many vessels of the Macross 7 fleet (Macross Chronicle 2E Macross 7 Mechanic Sheet Citizen 03A).
