The High Speed Raiding Space Cruiser is designed as a fast attack warship for the Varauta forces. While only some 366 meters long, the Space Cruiser possesses 12 beam guns, 18 anti-ship missiles and over a dozen variable fighters granting the ship an excellent degree of firepower for such a small vessel. Both armor and firepower are strongest in the forward sections of the ship; a design which aids the Space Cruiser in raids, disturbances and armed assault missions. The High-Speed Raiding Space Cruiser boasts the highest speed among warships of the Varauta fleet. The Cruiser also features an enhanced fold system that can achieve longer single-fold distances and also features a surplus output allowing the cruiser to refold quickly following the initial defold. The curved design of the Raiding Space Cruiser grants the craft an older style stealth capability. The Raiding Space Cruiser is used extensively as an infiltration vessel for special forces operations such as reconnaissance and intelligence. The Varauta fleet has approximately 92 High Speed Raiding Space Cruisers. Varauta spaceships are characterized by hull designs that use "planks" of Energy Conversion Armor, the High Speed Cruiser in particular having excellent armor for its size (Macross Chronicle 2E M7 Mechanic Sheet 04B "Varauta Fleet").
