  • Description and History

By 2047, the VF-19 Excalibur had begun deployment in even the outermost colonies of the UNG. The planet Zola Patrol Corps made use of a special Zolan variant designated the VF-19P that was so new to be deployed that it had not even a test flight. Nekki Basara visited the planet Zola and became involved in an incident during the galaxy whale migration (also known Vahla Ena, ラ バ ー エ ナ Barra ena). Using the power of his music, Basara piloted a special customized version of the VF-19P outfitted with speaker units designed by a Zolan scientist named Lawrence to engage the galaxy whales in orbit. In the VF-19P Basara assisted the galaxy whales during their migration cycle. The VF-19P itself was near a reaction warhead detonation that struck the great white galaxy whale, the resulting injury caused the great beast to send forth a spray of pollen that stained the Battroid red (Macross Chronicle, Issue #22). To the untrained eye, it appeared as if once again Basara was piloting his old Fire Valkyrie from the Protodeviln War in 2045-2046.

NOTE: The Macross Chronicle (published 2013) and the 1/60 scale VF-19P Excalibur transformable toy produced by Yamato (released 2012) both depict the feet/engines of the VF-19P in a bluish metal color. However, high definition screen captures from the official blu-ray discs for Macross Dynamite 7 (1997) clearly depict the engines in a charcoal grey-black color. Other sources such as Variable Fighter Master File: VF-19 Excalibur (2010) also depict the dark grey/black colored engines/feet. The blue tinted metal may be the official colors, but the Macross Mecha Manual always prioritizes color reproduction of the mecha as they appear in the animation itself. As such, the VF-19P Excalibur will be shown here with the charcoal engines/feet.
