AIF-9V Ghost (Ghost V-9/MG)

Technical Data

Equipment Type: main general purpose unmanned aerial vehicle
Unofficial codename(s): Ghost V-9/MG
Government: Macross Galaxy Fleet
Manufacturer: Macross Galaxy Fleet
Operational Deployment: unknown (post-2045)
Accommodation: none (AI controlled)
Dimensions: 11.35 meters long
Mass: 5.84 metric tons
Power Plant: Two Shinnakasu/P&W/Roice FF-2038C+ thermonuclear turbine engines
Propulsion: 57,200+ kg x 2 (561.13 kN x 2); many x high-maneuverability vernier thrusters
Thrust-to-weight ratio: (empty) 19.59
Performance: at 10,000 m Mach 5.0+, maximum speed due to heat-resistance limit of the fuselage (capable of attaining satellite orbit over an Earth-class planet)
Maximum Airframe Design Load: 24.5G
Design Features: MG/GG Model OMEGA/2055-ND3 independent artificial intelligence and integrated flight/fire-control system (hierarchical programming/self-learning type); integrated monitor systems and central computers installed in the nose (shines green); sensor located in the nose provides real-time detail of battlefield changes; clipped-delta main wings, freely move to position the airframe's weight in outer space (or move to the optimum position in atmosphere when traveling at high-speed); wings can fold up/down as well as change their angle to a maximum of 90-degrees; 4 x canard wings mounted in an X-shape upon the nose to match changes in the aerodynamic characteristics due to the dorsal beam gun; option of reconnaissance packs
- Armament -
Guns:
  • BP-01α 55mm Beam Gun (mounted on the dorsal side of the nose); similar to the VF-27's beam gun pod [the beam grenade function is omitted due to the lower output of the reactor]
  • 6 x Mauler RÖV-25 25mm beam guns (mounted in threes, one triple mount upon each left/right side of the forward fuselage)
  • 2 x Mauler RÖV-20 20mm beam guns (one gun each mounted within a blister upon the left/right forward ventral side fuselage)
  • Bombs & Missiles:
  • 4 x internal Bifors BML-04B micro-missile launchers (mounted in two pairs, one pair to each left/right side of the dorsal beam gun)
  • 2 x multi-purpose composite armament loading pods (mounted upon the rear fuselage)
  • 4 x underside fuselage hard points (can be equipped with large-sized anti-ship reaction warhead missiles, reconnaissance pack or fold booster)
  • Optional Equipment:
  • 1 x fold booster

  • Description and History

As the New U.N. Spacy deployed the general purpose AIF-7S Ghost unmanned fighter, the Macross Galaxy Fleet independently improved and deployed its own craft under the alias Ghost V-9/MG as the main general purpose unmanned fighter aircraft. The Ghost V-9/MG (or AIF-9V Ghost) basic design does not significantly deviate from the AIF-7S, however the performance has been increased due to greater engine output and enhanced armaments. While New Unified Forces Ghost craft are limited by rules that suspend true independent artificial intelligence, advanced autonomous features similiar to the X-9 Ghost (involved in the 2040 "Sharon Apple Incident") were loaded into the AIF-9V's AI system. Even under jamming (which disrupts the ability of unmanned craft to receive instructions from the mothership) the Ghost V-9/MG is able to continue combat operation via the ability to make autonomous decisions. Although registered as the AIF-9V by New U.N. Spacy identification codes, this class of unmanned craft is designated the "Ghost V-9/MG" within the Macross Galaxy 21st Super-Long Distance Emigrant Fleet.
