Power Plant: four Shinnakasu/P&W/RR/MG FF-3011/C Stage II thermonuclear reaction turbine engines
Propulsion: 1,377 kN x 4 (maximum thrust in space); many x P&W HMM-9 High maneuverability thrusters
    Thrust-to-weight ratio: (empty) 46.48
    Performance:
  • Fighter Mode: at 10,000 m Mach 5.2+, maximum speed due to heat-resistance limit of the fuselage, Mach 9+ possible for brief periods by protecting the fuselage with the pin-point barrier and energy conversion armor; cruise mode uses 2 of the 4 engines and main wings serve as cooling system
  • g limit: unknown
Design Features: 3-mode variable transformation; thrust vectoring is possible on main-wing engines with circumferential-moving nozzles; circumferential-moving nozzles in the leg engines are equipped with thrust reverser; 4 x canard wings (on forward nose); capable of attaining unassisted orbital velocity over an Earth-class planet; MG development IVC/GC 01ɣ ISC (Inertia Store Converter); brain wave flight control system, developed from the YF-21 BDI system, with optional remote operation outside of the cockpit (links pilot cranial nerves and airframe central computer directly with optical circuit to reduce response time); equipment (like displays) are omitted as information is sent directly to the brain of the cyborg pilot; manual flight controls (for emergency-use only); secretly developed next-generation technology virtual cockpit (cockpit simulates transparency, pilot utilizes implant interface); improved maneuverability due to feedback (pilot feels as though flying through air); armored canopy protected by energy conversion armor (can be exchanged with clear canopy for non-cyborg use); linear actuators, similar to VF-25 Messiah, reduces transformation time and fragile mechanisms via electromagnetic system of non-contacting structures allowing smooth transformation; landing gearfeatures catapult link bar for carrier launch (thickened column to support the impact of carrier landings); surplus output from the four engines (which exceeds VF-25 performance) allows pin-point barrier and energy conversion armor to be used in fighter mode; VF-27β is standard model available in commander and non-commander variants; VF-27γ is custom variant with performance tuned-up to design limits; VF-27γ features an exchanged head unit with all sensor systems enhanced, enhanced engine output and thrust vectoring functions, enhanced all avionics (Macross Chronicle Mechanic Sheet ALL 01C)
    - Armament -
    Guns:
  • 1 x Mauler RÖV-20 20mm beam gun (mounted center dorsal section in Fighter/GERWALK mode, becomes head turret in Battroid mode)
  • 2 x Sentinel HBC/HS-35B 35mm heavy beam machine guns (mounted forward outer engine nacelles in Fighter/GERWALK mode, rear torso in Battroid mode)
  • 1 x BGP-01β 55mm beam gun pod / high-powered beam grenade, 16.85m in length and 3 metric tons in weight, (mounted center ventral section in Fighter mode, carried in manipulator in GERWALK/Battroid modes); the gun pod has both a rapid-fire mode and a hyper-grenade firing mode
  • 1 x standard bulletproof (anti-projectile) shield (mounted center rear dorsal fuselage in Fighter mode, mounted on arm in GERWALK/Battroid modes)
  • 2 x Remmington ES-25A 25mm high-speed machine guns
  • or 2 x Mauler RÖV-25 25mm beam machine guns (mounted left/right of intakes in Fighter/GERWALK mode, on rotating hip mounts in Battroid mode)
  • 1 x retractable knife, reinforced by pin-point barrier system, for close-quarter combat (mounted inside left arm shield)
  • 1 x pin-point barrier system
  • Bombs & Missiles:
  • 4 x Bifors BML-04B internal micro-missile launchers (two launchers per wing mounted on the outer edge of the outboard engine nacelles)
  • Additional Equipment:
  • Macross Galaxy Fleet Guld Works Super Pack system composed of Energy Conversion Armor II; the ECA II is powered by the VF-27 itself (includes 2 x fuselage/shoulder armored units, 2 x fuselage/arm armored units; 2 x engine/leg armored units); fuselage/shoulder units include a pin-point barrier generation system booster unit to enhance defensive/offensive usage of the barrier system; engine/leg units are primarily extra propellant tanks but include micro-missile launchers; fuselage/arm packs feature built-in micro-missile launchers
  • Goblin II / QF-5100D Booster Weapon Unit
  • Dimensions: length 8.02 meters; width 5.83 meters
  • Mass: empty 4.12 metric tons
  • Maximum airframe design load: 25.5g (after reinforcement for use as a VF-27 Super Pack)
  • Power Plant: two Shinnakasu/P&W/Roice FF-203C thermonuclear reaction turbine engines
  • Propulsion: 515 kN x 2 (maximum thrust in space)
  • Performance: at 10,000 m Mach 5.2+ (maximum speed limited by atmospheric friction)
  • Armament: 6 x Bifors BLM-04B micro-missile launchers
  • Optional Equipment:
  • 1 x L.A.I. super fold booster
  • Optional Armament:
  • 25 mm high-speed machine gun and micro-missile warheads are later enhanced with anti-Vajra MDE warhead specification (armaments enhanced using Fold Quartz extracted from Vajra corpses). Beam gunpod is later refit to MDE particle beam specifications (enhanced to heavy quantum reaction beam-specifications for anti-Vajra combat)

  • Description and History

The VF-27γSP Super Lucifer (Gamma) is the ultimate type of variable fighter to use implant technology. Although the VF-27 was designed without the need for Super Packs, the VF-27γSP adds propellant units and micro-missile launchers as well as the general purpose unmanned reconnaissance fighter QF-5100D Goblin II mounted upon the dorsal airframe. The QF-5100D was developed at approximately the same time as the AIF-7S Ghost, but whereas the AIF-7S is design primarily for space, the Goblin II excels in atmospheric performance. This twin-fuselage type aerospace craft can separate from its VF-27 "mothership" for long-duration surveillance flights. The brainwave control system of the VF-27 can be utilized to remotely operate the QF-5100D. The Goblin II armament was kept to just the six micro-missile launchers to preserve stealthiness, but it does have two pylons for mounting equipment externally. Thrust from the Goblin II counteracts the additional weight of the VF-27 Super Parts. While the Super Packs are not designed to be disposable equipment, they can be ejected via explosive bolts to lighten the VF-27 when needed. The Energy Conversion Armor II of the Super Packs are powered by the VF-27 itself, as opposed to the externally powered ASWAG on the VF-25 Armored Pack.
