  • Description and History

The "Dual" Strike Valkyrie is a special heavy direct-fire variant to Shinnakasu Heavy Industry's FAST Pack augmentative space weapon system. In place of the two HMMP-02 micro-missile launcher pods, the "Dual" Strike system features two Mauler RO-X2A high-powered double-action beam cannons mounted on the NP-BP-01 pods. In game, the two Mauler beam cannons could be affixed to any VF-1 Valkyrie type (VF-1A, J, S and 30th Anniversary).

NOTE: B-Club Magazine #73 (December 1991) states the Mauler RO-X2A high-powered double-action beam cannon pod has a 180mm bore. This caliber figure is mentioned almost as an afterthought on page 8 of the "Super Aircraft" featurette written within that issue. This beam gun caliber has never been found in any other Macross publication, nor is it found in the Macross Chronicle (1st Edition or 2nd Edition). Nonetheless, the 180mm bore is noted here for curious fans.
