VF-1J GBP-1S Armored Valkyrie (Concept)
(Unofficial, Fan-Made Colors)

Variant VF-1J GBP-1S Armored Valkyrie (Concept)

Notes

Debut: never animated, appears within Macross Perfect Memory pg. 240 (published 1983); colors are fan-made and unofficial.
Description: This illustration by Shoji Kawamori depicts the VF-1J Valkyrie equipped with what appears to be a concept version (possibly a prototype?) of the GBP-1S Armor System. Like many early illustrations no official trivia comes with the line art so fans can only speculate about the technical details. If this illustration were treated as an actual GBP-1S production variant, it is a notably less-armed and less-armored version. This concept armor system features only a pair of shoulder-mounted missile launchers, lacking missile launchers in the chest and legs. The concept armor system does feature the grenades, but they are mounted upon the outside of each lower leg. The torso section features less extensive armor and each forearm is equipped with heavy armor rather than additional weapons. Both rear-mounted assist boosters almost look more like fuel tanks than rockets, but the lack of a rear view makes determining their function somewhat difficult.
